Ruhija Gorilla Friends Resort Campsite (RGFRC) is a locally initiated project started by community members of Kitojo parish in Kabale District of South Western Uganda.
Ruhija Gorilla Friends was started in July 2008 with the intention of developing local community incomes through sustainable gorilla tourism by providing affordable accommodation to tourists in the area.
Ruhija Gorilla friends Resort Campsite is made up of a team of hard-working men and women who will welcome you and make your stay a memorable experience.
Over the last 10 years, we have had the pleasure of providing accommodation for various people from all over the world, and we continue to chase this thrill of helping you have a great stay at Ruhija Gorilla Friends Resort Campsite.
Our location in Ruhija Village - just adjacent to the eastern edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National park, puts us right at the hotspot of tourism in Bwindi. We are therefore ideal for tourism activities in Bwindi - especially for those intending to track mountain gorillas. The three mountain gorilla habituated families of Bitukura, Oruzogo and Kyaguriro are tracked only a few kilometres from our campsite.
The Campsite is located about 52 kilometres from Kabale Municipality Southwestern Uganda. Public transport is available from Kabale to Ruhija. During the rainy season, a Four Wheel Drive vehicle is recommended as it can get quite muddy and challenging to manoeuvre the mountainous roads.
For people who aren't familiar with the place, you can contact us to organize transport for you from Kabale to Ruhija - through many of our established contacts and partners.
Through our work, we contribute towards local community livelihood enhancement and do so sustainably.
